Heimdallr - it is a digital signal processor for music production, as well as a virtual DJ mixer. It features two effects processors, six digital inputs with crossfader, six digital outputs with switchable routing, one analog input with 3-band EQ and assignable pan pot. It also comes with virtual DJ LE software that allows users to create and edit songs using their computer instead of having to use DJ hardware like CDJ's or turntables. The Heimdallr is an evolving product which has evolved significantly since its initial release in 2012; the current version of the device supports up to four decks plus remix deck modes. Heimdallr consists of a digital signal processor, six control buses, six digital inputs with crossfader, six digital outputs with switchable routing and one analog inputs with 3-band EQ. Heimdallr (previously named "Drummers Drum Box") was designed as an FX unit for Samplitude Pro X but the project was quickly abandoned after the first prototype other because it wasn't commercially viable. The project was then abandoned and the prototype was put on a shelf. After six months of working on other projects, the founder decided to take the newly acquired skills and start working on a new product. He used his expertise in embedded systems and FPGAs to develop a new device that would be able to do everything he wanted: The first prototypes were built around an XMOS Xccel-200 multi-core DSP; unfortunately, this chip caused several problems due to its limited memory capacity. This forced the development team to switch to a Spartan-6 FPGA (Analog Devices ADI Spartan-6 LX45 FPGA). The initial design was based on the (now discontinued) XMOS XCore200 multi-core DSP; it supported 10 channels, 6 digital inputs/outputs, 2 analog inputs and stereo output. The product used a 2-layer printed circuit board (PCB) which made it possible to reduce the size of the device to (L) (W) (H). The first prototype was publicly presented in 2012 at the Ultratec Expo in Bruxelles. The device received praise from podcasters who would later become beta testers for the Drummers Drum Box project. Several improvements were made to the prototype. The PCB was redesigned and moved into a single layer (reducing production cost and increasing the overall usability of the device). This redesign introduced a new waveform: The "Drummers Wave". The device was also renamed DrumsDrumBox for this version; it came with a software called VirtualDrummer which allowed users to create multi-track drum loops using their computer.
