This is a story of a village called "Odail" and the events that take place there. It's about the love, fear, anger and sorrow that one family endures for two generations. The novel is written by Sukumar Azhikode in Malayalam language. It was published in 2009 and got released at Thrissur Press Club on 11 July 2009 under "Kerala Sahitya Akademi's Book Publication Scheme". The book has received Kerala State Film Award for Best Book on Cinema in 2010. The novel "Odayil Ninnu" was translated into the Bhojpuri dialect by Subhash Chandra Nath and published under the title "Ayodhya Ka Laxmi". A translation of this novel by V. Paul, a professor of English at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata was published in 1998 under the title "Odaiyil Ninnu". A book based on this novel, titled "Anupallavi", was published in 2007. The book is written by P. N. Murali Appaya. An audio CD based on the novel was published in 2008. It is read by singer Sharath Master.A film titled "Odayil Ninnu" was produced based on this novel and released in 2010. The film was directed by script writer P. V. Shajikumar and produced under "Cinema Friends". Cinematography and editing were handled by Suresh Chandran and Naveen Raj respectively while Gokulam Gopalan did the music direction for the film. The songs are written by Babu Namboodiri, Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma, Kavalam Narayana Panicker, M.L. Prabha and Dr. Ramesan Nair respectively while the background score is done by Suresh Chandran. The songs are sung by Shivaji Guruvayoor, Chinmayi, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Sunitha Upadrashta and Vijay Yesudas.A film titled "Odaiyil Ninnu" was released in 1998 under "Sathyam Audios". A Malayalam film titled "Odaiyil Ninnu" released in 2010 under the banner of Cinema Friends Productions. It was directed by P. V. Shajikumar and produced by Gokulam Gopalan.An audio CD based on this novel was published in 2008.
